November 2014. Jane Vandenburgh designs

We were honored to have Jane V. As our speaker this month. Her flair for design was wonderful to watch and we all learned so much as the discussion flowed during the demonstrations.   Her program was about holiday designs and each one was different in texture, materials and construction. We thoroughly enjoyed her program.   Below are pics of her designs.

Chester Garden Club's November meeting

Our November meeting had so many beautiful designs and our speaker was delightful.  Jane Vandenburgh presented a program on hoiday designs and lucky members of the club were able to take them home. She taught concepts on grouping, mixed materials and yard sale containers.  Below are designs from the members of the club.

October program .... Linda Taylor

Our fantastic program was Linda Taylor, an Ikebana teacher of the Ohara school.  She demonstrated designs in the oriental manner.  She is pictured below with our Gypsy Cook (to the right).  Following are pics of her designs.

Chester Garden Club October meeting

Our club's meeting was fabulous today.  The rain was pouring outside, but we were indoors with good food, a great speaker and our own lovely designs around us.  The schedule was interpreted many different ways and displayed the talent of our ladies.  Here are a few pics of their designs.

Summer Tango - a small design

Most of my photos of this category were too blurry to post.  This picture shows that a small design has the same rules applied in balance, depth, plant materials, and scale that are used in a normal size arrangement.  All inside of a eight inch design.  Quite a feat!!  Try it some time.

By the Sea - a Designer's choice arrangement

The designers were given freedom of choice to interpret this category.  As you will see there were many coastal elements included in these designs. Although there aren't photos of all the designs from our meeting, (some were too blurry), .... several arrangements used drift wood and sand to enhaance the theme.

"Circle of Life" a traditional design

The Chester Garden Club held their September meeting today at St. John's Episcopal church.  The ladies brought approximately 25 designs that covered our three categories.  As you will see our ladies have quite a bit of talent and love to create floral designs.

The first design category  'Circle of Life' was to be a traditional design.  The styles were highlighted in earlier posts in this blog.  Below are pictures of some of club's entries today.

As you will see, there are some that are vertical, circle, crescent, triangle and other traditional designs used to interpret the schedule.
